The 5000 Question Survey - Part Two
Part Two
101. What does happiness/joy feel like physically? Warm & fuzzy :)
102. List five people you love starting with the one you love the absolute most.
A - My husband, Gareth
B - My mum, Lynn
C - My dad, Andy
D - My brother, Tom
E - My grandma, Jean
103. How many movies have you gone to see this month? None at the cinema
104. If you could have 3 wishes…but none of them could be for yourself, what would you wish for? I’d wish for an end to major world conflict - I don’t think “world peace” is a plausible concept but wars that devastate countries are unneccessary. I would also wish for progression towards making poverty history - I suppose this depends on how you define poverty but this wish, for me, refers to stopping people dying simply because they’re poor. Finally, I’d wish that every single person I know would give their life to Jesus so we can all be in heaven together <3
105. In what ways do you relax and de-stress when you are really tense? I am a very tense person and *extremely* bad at relaxing. I sometimes do a relaxation CD but not as much as I should. I like to light candles and curl up with a book but the best de-stresser for me is a spa day. I wish I could go to a spa at least once a month.
106. How much money would it take to get you to drive to school naked in the springtime and get out of the car? LOL. Well, this can’t happen now seeing as I don’t go to school but that concept in general would probably take over a million pounds. If I was thinner, like when I was actually at school, it would take a lot less. Tbh I’d have probably done it for a grand ;D
107. Have you ever killed an animal? Nothing outside of the insect/arachnid species group.
108. Have you ever lost someone close to you? I’m quite lucky that no one *really* close to me has died….yet. My maternal grandfather is the closest person I’ve lost.
109. What do you think of cloning? It scares the crap out of me. I think it’s just asking for trouble. I understand the health benefits etc but morally I very much disapprove.
110. Do you read or watch TV more often? I rarely watch actual TV but I watch a lot of stuff online, probably more than I read.
111. With all this talk of terrorism going around are you willing to sacrifice rights and freedoms for increased safety? To an extent. In places where terrorism is a high risk, e.g airports, then absolutely. I know it’s annoying having extra security measures & stuff but it does make me feel safer. On the other hand, I am a strong believer in carrying on with “normal life” as anything other than that means the terrorists have won.
112. What is the punishment you would come up with for Osama Bin Laden if you caught him alive? I don’t think it’s my place to punish him. And I would probably vomit if I was face-to-face with him.
113. Have you ever named an individual part of your body? Nope.
114. Have you ever been on the radio or on TV? Both. Nothing major though - just phone ins on the radio, or where they get you to record a little clip introducing a song, and I was on some TV programme when I was in primary school demonstrating maths-related video conferencing (I don’t even know what that was all about tbh!), plus audience/crowd shots.
115. Have you ever won a lottery, or sweepstakes? When I was younger my parents got 4 numbers on the National Lottery - I can’t remember how much we won but I think it was less than £100 haha. I’ve also won a few tenners on there over the years but nothing other than that.
116. Have you ever won a contest or competition? Not a contest but I’ve won giveaway competitions. Ones I remember are a Sugababes album, a Hello Kitty T-Shirt and tickets to an intimate Blazin’ Squad gig. Ooh and I won a Samsung Genio phone from The Saturdays - that’s my fave ever prize :D
117. Do you like to watch The Joy of Painting show with Bob Ross (check out this link if you don’t know who he is. Also please note me if you notice the link is broken) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross_(painter)? Um, no? I don’t think it’s on in the UK. I’m sure he was an amazing artist but it’s not really the kind of thing I’d watch anyway.
118. Do you know what your grandparents and your great grandparents did for a living? On my maternal side my grandad was in the army and then a lorry driver and my grandma had various factory/retail/admin jobs. On my paternal side my grandad was in the navy and I’m not sure what he did after that, and I think my nana was in the fire brigade at some point but I feel like that sounds unrealstic, hmmm….I’m sure she told me she was a “fire woman”. I have no idea what my great grandparents did but I’d be very interested to find out.
119. Is there anything really interesting in your family history? Ooh there is something but I’m very sketchy on the details - one of my dad’s ancestors (not sure if they were male or female) was engaged to someone who died on the Titanic so they then married someone else, making it possible for the line that resulted in me to continue. Basically, had the Titanic not sunk, I wouldn’t have been born. Mindfuck!
120. Is there anyone you trust completely? My husband <3
121. Have you ever lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye? Not really. I kind of feel that way about some friends that I’ve lost touch with but it’s hardly the same as not saying goodbye to someone before they die.
122. How do you feel about women in politics? I don’t understand why there *wouldn’t* be women in politics in this day and age. I’ll be happy when it’s a more or less 50/50 male to female ratio.
123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool? In this country an indoor jacuzzi. If it was somewhere warmer then outdoor.
124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about on your own? I’m a very inquisitive person so if I hear about something I don’t understand or want to learn more about then I’ll usually look it up and gain a basic knowledge. There isn’t really anything atm that I read about in great detail, other than stuff for my degree, but I definitely plan to up my knowledge of certain subjects in the future.
125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent? Yes. I sometimes feel like my intelligence is diminishing though. My IQ is above average but I’m no genius.
126. Would you consider yourself to be wise? No. I hope to be wise, at least in some areas of life, one day.
127. Have you ever given or received a lap dance? Neither
128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person? Yeah, I sometimes buy the Big Issue. Occasionally I give money to non-BI sellers but I don’t like doing that in case I inadvertently become responsible for their drug-related death :|
129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring? No, that really doesn’t appeal to me. If I ever feel the need to be hit by a train or murdered by a serial killer I’ll give it a go!
130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you? No. I believe everyone lives for as long as they’re meant to, even when it seems grossly unfair.
131. Can you finish any of the following lyrics?
A: Nothing to kill or die for… And no religion too (I think).
B: Late comings with the late comin’ stretcher… Never heard that line, sorry.
C: I could make a film and make you my star… Umm, don’t know.
132. Were you ever with someone while they died? No.
133. Would you rather be a world political leader or a rock star? Both appeal to me but music always wins - rock star.
134. Have you ever given someone a love letter that you wrote? Yep. Multiple times.
135. Have you ever sent someone a surprise though the mail? Ummm, I can’t think of anytime I’ve done that. I should though! Actually, I sort of am. I’ve got a present for @oneofthosefaces that she knows exists but doesn’t know what it is. Must go to post office!
136. Are you looking forward to any concerts right now? Hell to the Y-E-S! Had major stress this morning buying The Saturdays tickets and am currently going to 4 dates on the ‘Headlines’ tour. I am also looking forward to Eliza Doolittle next month, and possibly going to Marina & the Diamonds the week after.
137. Of all animated movies, which is the best one you’ve ever seen? That is a tough question. Top 3 are probably ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Beauty & the Beast’.
138. What are the best bands or songs to listen to while driving? I don’t drive but whenever I’m in a car where I have control over the music I put on whichevever CDs I’m in the mood for and/or are newish. Power ballads/classic rock do seem to fit well with driving though :D
139. What do you think is the most amazing thing that anyone has ever accomplished? Jesus gave up his divinity to live as a human on earth and die on the cross bearing all our sins before RESURRECTING himself. That is the most awesome thing ever and none of you can beat that, sorry!
140. What could a member of the opposite sex do to impress you? Be polite and smiley.
141. About how many emails do you get a day? How many of those emails are junk mail? How many of them are forwards? Around 30 I think. I don’t get many forwards but probably about 3 junk per day. Most of my emails are from fashion/beauty/leisure/music-related companies though.
142. What’s your favorite thing to do online besides write in your diary and hang out at this site? Watch TV/YouTube vids, listen to music (mostly via Spotify), shop, use Twitter.
143. Do you believe Kurt Cobain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain) killed himself or was it a conspiracy? I don’t think I’ve previously heard any conspiracy theories about his death. Having read them, I’m 90% sure he committed suicide. He seemed a very troubled & destructive man and I think he would have killed himself, either intentionally or accidentally, at some point anyway.
144. Have you ever though about hitchhiking across the country? No.
145. Who would you bring with you on this kind of a road trip? I wouldn’t hitchhike but I would like to do a road trip with people I actually know. On that kind of trip I would take plenty of music to listen to and, hopefully, quite a bit of cash.
146. Of the following, which word best describes you: accurate, bold, charming, dependable. What a random bunch of words. I don’t think any of them describe me particularly well but if I had to choose one I’d say charming.
147. If you are single, at about what age do you think you will be ready to settle down and get married? If you are married, how old were you at the time? I got married when I was 20. I didn’t think “Oh, I’m ready to settle down”, it was more “I want, and need, to be joined to you eternally”.
148. Do you often wonder, when you say goodbye to people, if it is the last time you will ever see them? I do, actually. I hate that I think it but I worry a lot, especially when people are travelling, that I might never see them again :(
149. What movie are you most looking forward to seeing when it comes out? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 AND 2. (Grr at the long gap between them!)
150. What is your quest? Um. I have never given this any thought. My quest is to love and be loved as much as I can.
151. What is louder and more annoying: 200 adults talking or one four-year-old screaming? 200 adults talking.
152. Do you believe the stories about planes, boats and people mysteriously disappearing into the Bermuda triangle? I’m not sure. I find it fascinating though. I guess some people have disappeared there but people can disappear anywhere, I don’t think it has some mythical power or whatever.
153. Who are you the most jealous of? I try not to be but I am extremely jealous of any girl who has a *really* close female friend that they tell everything to and can call anytime. I want that :(
154. What is the happiest way you can start your day? By waking up when I’m ready and not when I’m told to by my alarm or another person.
155. Do you ever have moments where you feel like everything is all right in the world? I used to have these moments when I was an older child/early teen, particularly when I was in the car with my family. If the music was good & the sun was shining I’d think “Wow, life is AMAZING!”. I wish I had these experiences nowadays. The innocence & simplicity of youth are wonderful things.
156. Who thinks that you are offensive? I don’t think anyone’s ever called me offensive. Not to my face anyway!
157. If you had to teach a class in something, what would you be able to teach people? I’d like to teach English but I don’t know how good I’d be. Other than academic subjects, I guess I could teach people how to cope with generalised anxiety disorder.
158. Have you ever had a spiritual experience (an experience that cannot be explained by science)? Yeah, I’ve had quite a few encounters with God but nothing I can really put into words.
159. Do you believe that this experience was truly mystical or do you think there is some scientific explanation for it, only you don’t know what it is? I suppose science would show me all the synapses or whatever happening in my brain and “prove” that I was just imagining it but I trust my own judgement.
160. Do you get offended easily? I am easy to upset if you insult me, threaten me or make me feel stupid but I’m not really offended by anything that isn’t personal to me or someone I love.
161. Would you still love and stay with your signifigant other if he or she had to have a breast or testicle removed? Of course!
162. Do you believe in fate or free will? Both. It’s an extremely complex issue. I believe everything happens for a reason and that major life events are destined but I also believe that there is always a choice.
163. Do you believe that only boring people get bored? No. That is a stupid, overused expression. *Everyone* gets bored at some point or another. I guess boring people stay bored for longer though, whereas interesting people think “Oh, I’m bored” & then find something better to do.
164. Can life change or are we all stuck in vain? Of course life can change, it changes all the time. Obviously there are fundamental things that remain constant but everyone’s individual lives can change.
165. What changes are you afraid of? Can’t think of anything specific right now. I tend to view change as positive, its generally only scary until you acclimatise.
166. Are you a day person or nocturnal? Nocturnal. It’s bloody annoying though!
167. What one CD could you listen to for an entire week (no mixed CD’s, it must be an album)? There are quite a few albums I’d be happy listening to for a week but I’ll say Christina Aguilera’s ‘Stripped’ because it’s long (more choice of tracks!) and one of my fave albums of all time.
168. Which is worse, working in retail, food service, or an office? I’ve never worked in food service but I think I’d hate it. I don’t think one of those jobs is “worse” than the others, it depends on your personality and the skills you have.
169. What’s the coolest job you ever had? I loved being a hotel receptionist, apart from the shit hours!
170. What is one central idea that your thoughts seem to come back to? There’re quite a few. “There is a God”, “I want to be back on stage”, “I want to own a hotel”, “I love my husband” and “My mental health is shit but I’m still lucky in life” are some examples.
171. Have you ever wanted to be an actor/tress? Yep, always.
172. If you had the power to control one person and make this person do anything you wanted for a whole day, who would you pick and what would they do? Um, probably a world leader. I’d closely scrutinise their policies and change them so they were in line with what I think would benefit the world.
173. What star sign are you and what is your sign like? I’m a Taurus. I don’t really believe in star signs though. All I know is that Taureans are stubborn and I definitely am but so are many people of other signs! I’m not sure about any other traits.
174. Did the Blair Witch Project scare you? A bit but I was more appalled by how utterly abysmal it was as a movie.
175. Are you in constant fear of death? Not death, as in what comes once we’re gone, but dying. It scares me a lot.
176. Does fear of death keep you from building a life? In some respects I think my fear of dying has contributed to my anxiety/agorophobia and that is definitely keeping me from building a life.
177. Do you like all your movies to be in wide-screen? I don’t really mind. I suppose they generally look better in wide-screen.
178. Are you a fan of any comic books? No, I’ve never been into them. I think I might like them though.
179. At what age did you attend your first funeral? Ten. It was my Nana’s <3
180. What do you smell like (lotion, cologne, sweat)? Usually a mixture of deodorant and perfume, the scents of which vary. Gareth says I smell like strawberries but I’m pretty sure he’s just being nice :p
181. What are your greatest sources for wisdom? The internet. That’s a bit sad but probably true. Obv the Bible too.
182. When you were little, where did your parents tell you babies come from? I don’t remember ever being told anything other than an innocent version of the truth - “A man and a woman have a special cuddle….etc.”
183. What is your favorite band? The Saturdays <3
184. What’s the best cheesy 80’s song? Probably Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
185. What’s the best kind of movie to see on a date? A rom-com. One that’s actually funny though. Then you can laugh together, which breaks the ice, and take inspiration from the movie for how to woo each other ;)
186. Do you like to sit in the front, middle or back of the Movie Theater? Back. The screen just seems *too* big otherwise.
187. Have you ever been inside an abandoned building? I’ve been in a ruined castle if that counts. Never an abandoned urban building though.
188. Under what circumstances would you agree to work for free? If it was something I felt passionately about - probably performing or helping others. As long as I could afford it!
189. Candles or strobe lights? Argh, I *hate* strobe lights. They make me feel like my eyes are going to burst. And I love candles so that one was easy!
190. Do you think the Lord of the Rings movies are true to the books or did Hollywood change the story too much? I haven’t actually read the books (*shamefaced*) - I started the first one but it did my head in a bit. I’d like to try and read it again and complete the trilogy though. As far as I know, the movies are true to the books but cut out minor plotlines etc.
191. When you see a stranger on the street does your first reaction lean towards thinking of this person as a potential friend or as a potential threat? I don’t like to judge on appearances but it really does come down to what they look like. Not necessarily how attractive they are or whatever, more if it’s a scary man or a bad-ass looking woman then they’re a threat, otherwise I try and smile and gauge their reaction.
192. Is it natural for human beings to fear and distrust each other, or is it cultural? A bit of both. I guess when humans lived in tight-knit communities and tribes they would be wary of those from outside their pack, which probably came as a natural instict to protect themselves. Nowadays, I guess some cultures are less trusting than others but every human has a defence mechanism.
193. What do you really want to buy? A 160Gb iPod.
194. You have to choose. Would you be happier marrying someone rich for their money or living in the streets and subway tunnels with someone you love? I could live anywhere with my Gazzy <3
195. If someone wanted to understand you what book could they read that would help? I haven’t written it yet ;) Um, maybe Sylvia Plath’s ‘The Bell Jar’? I’m not *quite* as suicidal though.
196. Do you think it’s odd that Americans have freedom of religion and yet call themselves ‘one nation under god’? Hmm, I suppose so. It doesn’t specify the god though. I think it’s a nice, unifying phrase.
197. In what sense are you a minority? I’m not really, am I? Maybe being a non-denominational Christian puts me in the minority…
198. Are you anti social? Not in the ASBO sense haha, but I guess I can be a bit distant from others & shy at times.
199. Do you photograph well? No :|
200. Do you think that human beings would survivor through a nuclear winter? I really don’t know what a nuclear winter is. *Feels stupid*
