30 Days of Me

Day 25 - Your Day, In Great Detail

I was supposed to do day 25 yesterday but didn’t get around it to it so this will effectively be “Yesterday, in great detail”. It may be ridiculously boring. Consider yourself warned.

So, Monday 2nd August 2010. I woke up quite early but went back to sleep for a bit and got up around 9:15 am, which is relatively early for me. I made myself a Slim Fast vanilla shake (yep, doing the SF diet right now) and had a quick check of my emails. Then I hopped in the shower, did my make-up and hair and got dressed before heading off to my weekly CBT appointment (yup, that is therapy). Luckily, Gareth (my hubby) wasn’t working so he gave me a lift there and back. The session went fine, no details to reveal as of yet, sorry.

So that finished at midday and we came home as I had one final delivery to make from my recent batch of Avon orders (yes, I am indeed an Avon rep). Unfortunately the customer wasn’t in so I’d have to try again later. We weren’t sure what to do after that as I didn’t want to spend the day at home. It takes a fair bit of time & effort for me to get ready so once I’m out I like to stay out, makes it more worthwhile. We decided to go on a random drive in the general countryside direction and ended up in Stanton Wick (North Somerset), where we stopped at a pub called The Carpenter’s Arms. I had an Apple & Raspberry J2O, Gareth had a coke, and we sat in their peaceful garden with amazing hanging baskets. It was nice.

We made our way back home after about half an hour, taking the scenic route, and trying to deliver the Avon order again, still without success. We only popped home to make a casserole (lol) because the chicken we had ran out of date so Gareth prepared all that, whilst I emptied & reloaded the dishwasher. Domestic team work FTW!

We took our prepared chicken casserole with us to Gareth’s parents so I had to have it on my lap in the car. Not a good idea. Even though the pot had a lid on *and* was wrapped in clingfilm, it still started to leak all over my lap. I ended up with a wet, chicken-scented crotch. Not amused! I was glad Gareth’s parents were out when we got to their house (he has a key) so I could drop my trousers straight away! I wore Gareth’s shorts and he wore a towel, whilst mine dried on the washing line.

Once the casserole was in the oven, Gareth and I played Canasta. It’s an amazing card game and if you don’t know it you should learn how to play! It was a close game and Gareth only just beat me. I was actually really gutted and a very bad loser about it. I’m normally not that competitive about games but I was sure I’d won and it was just super annoying to find I hadn’t! Near the end of our game Gareth’s mum came home so we played Scrabble with her afterwards. I bloody hate Scrabble. I’ve never liked it. What really pisses me off about it is that you have to concentrate on the scoring when all I want to do is make the best words. It doesn’t seem right to me that you can score something huge with, like, two letters. Grr! Anyway, this game wasn’t actually *too* bad and I came second out of three, which I can live with.

Our casserole was ready by then so we ate it, obv. Once that was gobbled up the three of us played Upwords, a far superior word game in my opinion, and I’m not just saying that because I won! By then, Gareth’s dad was home too and ate some of our casserole, whilst we played yet another game - this time it was Sorry, the Disney version (it’s basically Ludo if anyone is unfamiliar). I love that game, and I’m not just saying that because I won!

Finally, we played team Canasta - me & Nesta (mother-in-law) V Gareth & Norman (father-in-law). I think I prefer this version of the game, and I’m not just saying that because I won! (Ok, that’s the last you’ll hear of that phrase, I promise!)

It was probably about 9:30 pm then and I think we were all well and truly gamed-out! So Gareth & I said bye and drove home, listening to some Xtina. I was really tired when we got home so, even though I was planning to write about my day on here, I went straight to bed super early at around 10.30pm.

And that was my yesterday. WOW.
